Woodland Crossing - Caribou By Rod Frederick

By Rod Frederick

Woodland Crossing - Caribou by Rod Frederick

As the autumn sun gets lower on the horizon, a small group of caribou continue their migration to winter range, pausing briefly at the water's edge. The herd will walk along the shore in search of shallow places. When a suitable crossing is found, the group will pile up and the press of bodies will eventually force a large bull to take his reluctant plunge into the icy water. However, once they've begun the crossing, they are wary about leaving the water for sometimes wolves wait along the shore.
