The Last Buffalo - Sioux American Indians By Howard Terpning

By Howard Terpning

Last Buffalo by Howard Terpning

The fate of the Plains people and the buffalo were inextricably linked. The people needed its meat for food, its bones for tools and its hide for shelter. When white hunters began their slaughter of the buffalo, they were destroying the Plains people as well. This is a small hunting party which has dispatched a bison. There is no horse but perhaps they were so poor, they didn't own one. And now with the last buffalo gone, they will grow poorer.
