Music In The Wind By Bev Doolittle

Music in the Wind by Bev Doolittle

"Nature provides a chorus of lively sounds to both inspire and lift the human spirit, or to relax and soothe out troubled hearts. But how does an artist communicate the emotional spirit of music in a strictly visual medium? I believe nature would provide an answer. And it did."

"The best ideas usually turn up when they're least expected. After seeing a selection of Pre-Raphaelite posters, I became caught up with the possibility of creating a painting centered around romance. But first I needed an idea. An afternoon of dangling my feet in an Indian Canyon's oasis stream, sitting on a palm-shaded boulder, produced the basic concept for this print. Nature provides a chorus of lively sounds to both inspire and lift the human spirit, or to relax and soothe our troubled hearts. But how does an artist communicate the emotional spirit of music in a strictly visual medium? I believed nature would provide an answer . And it did. I chose to convey my inspiration both symbolically and literally - with the Native American flute player emerging from the Rocky Mountain landscape and with the Mountain Bluebirds taking off in flight." ~ Bev Doolittle.
