Winter On Trout Creek - Bison By James Bama

Winter on Trout Creek by James Bama

"Although the prairies no longer echo with the hoof beats of millions of American bison, small herds do survive in parks and on ranches. One such ranch is owned by a neighbor of mine on Trout Creek."

"I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity during the winter of 1985-86 during which my neighbor was managing a herd of buffalo for the state of Wyoming. He had gotten them as calves and it wasn't until that winter that they attained most of their size. They were scheduled to be relocated the next spring. That winter was a particularly bad one and I was able to envision the buffalo much as they would have looked roaming the snow-covered plains hundreds of years ago." - Artist James Bama
