"John Berendt wrote Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil in 1994. On the cover of his book, and also in the movie, a statue of Bird Girl was featured. I have had the good pleasure of spending many wonderful nights in a beautiful bed and breakfast in Fuqua-Varina, North Carolina and in their garden they have a replica of that very statue. When I was photographing it, a female cardinal sat on one side. I knew there was a painting idea in the making. I added the male for balance and visual interest, it is up to the viewer on which is good or evil!" ~ Terry Isaac
