Waiting For The Escort - Stagecoach By Frank McCarthy
Waiting for the Escort - Stagecoach by Frank McCarthy
From the Dakotas west to Montana and south into Arizona, the Cavalry escorted and protected the overland stage from Indians and outlaws. Every fifth or sixth stop was a home station. The others were called swing stations. The home station provided housing, blacksmiths, harness repairmen, stock tenders and the like and boasted saloons, stores and dance halls. Here, cavalry soldiers come out of the corral at the first light of day to start escort duty. This western art print was published back in 1975. Very Rare.
