Mountain Man With Rifle By James Bama

Mountain Man with Rifle by James Bama

This vertical portrait shows a Mountain Man in the typical clothing look of what the men out west looked like back in the day. The Mountain man is wearing a coon skin hat and some leather clothing and holding his muzzle loader (Black Powder) riffle. I wonder how he got the coat may be trading with the local tribe of Indians. My model was a young man who yearned for the simpler days of yesteryear. The buckskins he is wearing are authentic and the rifle is typical of the period he is depicting. He carves Kachina dolls and makes things out of animal horns and hides. This brave chap rode over 400 miles on horseback, retracing the old mountain man trail from Arizona to Wyoming.
