A Time Of Plenty - John Deere 720 By Dave Barnhouse

A Time of Plenty - Farming by Dave Barnhouse

Is there a better time of year than autumn? If you ask Dave Barnhouse, he’ll tell you that most farmers and hunters value harvest time above all others. In this image, the artist takes us to the farm at the end of a productive day. The farmer knows these hunters well. He and the grandfather grew up together and taught the hunter's son the fine points of goose calling. Now the grandson is offering his first goose to the farmer in gratitude for being allowed to hunt on his land. "This scene is a page from my youth," the artist recounts. "I remember the contentment at the end of the day, when you've accomplished the job you set out to do, whether it's working the land or hunting waterfowl. It's this sense of peace and neighborliness that I like to portray in my art." A family gathers near the farm house in this fine art print for sale. The two black labs know its hunting season and are as excited as the young boy to get out in the duck blind. Harvest time is here again, and it's been another bountiful day on farm. From the old John Deere 720, to the Ford, to the faithful dogs, each generation of this farming family has what they need to thrive living off the land.
