Bluebills Leavin’ by Les Kouba. This painting was the first commission job I did for “Sports Afield” magazine. I got the job from the editor, Ted Kesting, who had heard about my amazing ability with bluebills from Clare Fry, art director of Brown & Bigelow. The cover featured a flock of blue bills bucking a headwind with snow coming down-a very dramatic subject.
