The Wanderer - Black Wolf By Charles Frace

The Wanderer - Black Wolf by Charles Frace'

A painting of a black wolf walking through a creek. The white snowy setting and reflections in the water provide the perfect setting for this shadow of the forest to be painted in.

Though it is know as the Gray Wolf (canis lupus), the animal actually varies widely in color from snow white to coal black. Tales past through the ages have further colored the wolf as vicious or evil, when in fact it is in many ways similar to humans. The wolf is one of the most intelligent of all animals and lives in a highly structured social order characterized by strict laws, close family ties and visual displays of emotion. Even when the wolf hunts, it chooses the weaker member of a herd, a "pruning" which ensures that only the strongest of the hunted species will foster offspring.

Ranging from the northern US to the arctic, wolves may travel thousands of miles in search of food. Each pack is an extended family unit that displays remarkable teamwork and strategy in hunting larger animals.

Though the wolf may prefer it's family den, the struggle to survive makes it ever "THE WANDERER"
