Crossing Below The Falls - Blackfoot American Indians By Howard Terpning

Crossing below the Falls by Howard Terpning.

This is Running Eagles Falls at the eastern end of Glacier National Park. Although the story of these two Blackfeet braves is yet to be told - they could constitute a small war or hunting party - the real story is about nature's power and the beauty of the falls. This great Vertical Native American Indian art print shows two Indians on horse back crossing the river just under the waterfall.

Winner of 1995 Cowboy Artists of America "Best in Show" and Gold Medal for Oils.

The Blackfoot Indians still live at the edge of one of nature’s most spectacular regions, the eternal and primitive wilderness that is now known as Glacier National Park. Two Blackfoot warriors from a time long past are portrayed against but one of the dramatic landscapes that abound in this special place of scenic splendor in the mountains of Montana. "Although the story of these two Blackfeet braves is yet to be told," says Terpning, "the real story is about nature's power and the beauty of the falls."

The inspiration for this setting, Running Eagle Falls is located in East Glacier National Park, Montana. Two Blackfoot men navigate a shallow crossing as the late sun spreads across the mid-ground in this painting. Bits of light hit the trees leaning from the left and right edges and a critical touch of sun hits the top of the falls. "I care deeply for the Plains Indians, and I never want their lessons of life to be forgotten. If my art serves to keep their importance alive for years and future generations, then I will consider my art career a success" ~ Howard Terpning
