Athabasca River Battle - Elk By Michael Sieve

Athabasca River Battle - Elk by Michael Sieve

The Athabasca River in the Alberta Canadian Rockies is one of the artist's favorite places to embrace the nature experience. This series inspired by a scene witnessed in October of 1980, Portrays the confrontation of two bull elk in this pristine wilderness. Sieve was thrilled to see the events unfold.

The series not only captures the majestic qualities of the elk and the Canadian Rockies, but it moves in time and space.

"The Challenge" begins in the early morning high on the slopes. In "The Battle", the light is becoming brighter and the bulls, fighting intensely, have made a significant descent. "The Monarch" is shown later, basking in the bright sun looking over his harem in the now peaceful river valley.
