The Old Farm Pothole - Mallards By Les Kouba

The Old Farm Pothole by Les Kouba

A flock of mallards land in a old pothole in western Minnesota. THE OLD FARM POTHOLE

Now there’s quite a painting. This was a wedding gift for my nephew, Randy Herschman, and his bride, Cheryl. I decided to paint a picture of Randy’s home farm place near Gibbon, Minnesota, where he was born and raised.

The Herschman farm borders Lake Swan, a popular spot for waterfowl hunting. I got a photograph taken from the lake looking up towards the farmstead. I painted it very accurately-we called that particular bay a pothole-thus the painting’s name.

We presented the painting to Randy and Cheryl at their wedding reception in the famous Pumpernickel Room of the Gibbon Ballroom. The painting was such a hit that I had it reproduced for limited edition prints. It was a popular mallard duck image and features a flock of mallards landing near a beaver lodge in the marsh behind a farm. This is a great old duck art print for sale. It was published back in 1970

The Old Farm Pothole - Mallards by Les Kouba is available for sale as a numbered limited edition of only 1,200 prints with a 17 x 24 image size priced at $250 unframed.
