Young Sheepherder By James Bama

Young Sheepherder by James Bama

"Meet Duke Early. On break from college, Early worked as a sheepherder for the Sleeper Ranch in Wyoming's Oregon Basin - a very tough job. Like all sheepherders, the young man spent months at a time living alone in the wilderness as he led his herd down the rugged Rocky Mountains. His lifeline to the world was his "tender," a ranch hand who brought him food and supplies once or twice a week. For company, he depended on his faithful sheep dog. Today, he is a fish and game warden for the state of Wyoming. This western painting shows a cowboy saddling up his horse to tend to the sheep. He has his dog with to help out." ~ James Bama
