A denizen of western marshes, the small (14.5"-17"; 37-43 cm) Cinnamon Teal is most abundant in the wetlands flanking Utah's Great Salt Lake. Here and in other wetlands of arid regions, the Cinnamon Teal virtually replaces the Blue-winged Teal. Usually the Cinnamon Teal occurs in smaller flocks than either the Blue-winged or Green-winged Teal. This bird breeds from southern British Columbia (Caribou-Chilcotin Parklands) to just north of Mexico City; and from marshes adjacent to Pacific Coast east into western Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
