The Survivors - Canada Geese By Carl Brenders
The Survivors - Canada Geese by Carl Brenders.
"Wetlands and shorelines have always been very attractive places to me. It is sensational to be there when the big flocks of geese and ducks land on the lakes and marshes. Unfortunately, you are not always the only one there, and it is horrifying to see a glorious formation of geese completely disrupted by a battery of shotgun fire. Why do people kill animals for fun? For centuries, hunting has been a tradition in Europe. There is, indeed, a certain aura of romance surrounding 'the hunter' as is evidence by the number of novels and poems written on the subject. I have learned that even a hunter can be a nature lover, so there must be several different ways to love nature. I however, could never think of killing a living thing."
"I wanted this painting to alert people about all the lead shot on the bottom of lakes after several generations of duck and goose hunting. Lots of foraging geese are poisoned by this lead." ~ Carl Brenders. (Note the spent shot gun shells on the ground at the waters edge)
