The Hautman Brothers have established themselves as America's foremost family of wildlife artists. All three brothers have received numerous honors and awards, and have been a strong presence in many state and national duck stamp competitions. At last count, the three brothers have seen their art featured on over 40 state and federal stamps. In fact, Jim, Bob and Joe are the only brothers ever to win the prestigious Federal Duck Stamp Contest.

Images by Minnesota freelance artist Bob Hautman (b. 1959) appear on the 1997-1998 and 2001-2002 Federal Duck stamps. His work has also been featured on the 2001 New Jersey duck stamp(NJ18), 2001 Minnesota duck stamp (MN25), 1999 Texas duck stamp (TX19), the 1999 SCWA stamp, 1997 Federal Duck Stamp (RW64), the 1995 Minnesota Pheasant Stamp, the 1992 (MN16) and 1998 (MN12) Minnesota State Duck Stamp, and the 1989 Nevada State Duck Stamp. He is the middle brother of Joe Hautman and Jim Hautman, also Duck Stamp winners.
Robert Hautman comes from an artistic family of nine including brothers Jim and Joe who are past Federal Duck Stamp winners. In fact, Robert's 2001-2002 win was the sixth Federal win for the Hautman dynasty since little brother Jim Hautman's first win in the 1989-90 contest. To date the three brothers have won the federal duck stamp competition a total of eight times.
Bob Hautman credits his success to the influence of his parents and a supportive family environment. His mother Elaine is an accomplished painter; and his late father Tom bestowed on his family a love of the outdoors and a commitment to wildlife conservation.
Robert began his wildlife painting career in 1983 painting "Birds on Boards," and selling at local art fairs, In 1987 he won his first contest, the Minnesota Duck stamp, with a pair of Buffleheads. He has been painting, doing shows, and winning contests ever since. The Hautman name and elements from Robert's studio were used in the Academy Award winning movie "Fargo."
They have received national accolades from newspapers such as USA TODAY, THE WASHINGTON POST, MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE and THE ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, as well as TIME, US NEWS & WORLD REPORT, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, U.S. ART, FUR-FISH-GAME and NORTH AMERICAN HUNTER magazines. The Hautmans' creations have been displayed in the OVAL OFFICE and the SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTES in Washington D.C.
